About this font
Bello is a big and beautiful brush typeface for headline point sizes with lots of ligatures and start and ending swashes, automatic in Bello Pro, a cross-platform OpenType font with many defined features. Bello is also available in normal TrueType flavoured OpenType format for PC and PostScript Type 1 format for Mac. Bello has an extended latin character set for Western and Central Europe.
After a period of hand sketching and lettering, Underware decided to give Bello two main styles: script and small caps. These two fonts create a strong typographic contrast – while Bello Script is flourished and flowing, Bello Small Caps are upright and as sturdy as brush lettering can be. Careful spacing and kerning ensures Bello’s fluid and hand-written appearance; additionally, a set of 64 ligatures provides variation within texts. Some are typographic, some made simply to create a more intimate, natural impression. (For the same reasons Underware added a few ornaments and a set of snap-on beginning and ending swashes for Bello’s lowercase letters.)
Bello is a close typographic cousin of Sauna, and these two typefaces combine very happily.
